Overall, this is a good product that does exactly as it says and reduced my CPU temperature slightly. I can't give this 5 stars due to the complete lack of instruction.
I assumed that the package would contain an instruction manual which explained how to attach the offset brackets and use the over tighten indicator, but that doesn't exist. This page has an install video, but it's of the older style and not what is currently shipping. I had to use another review to understand how to install the offset bracket.
I'll include the steps I took below to hopefully help out anyone else looking for guidance.
What I did was have the plates installed so the top/bottom text was visible when viewing the bottom of the cooler (as shown in picture 1 of this page at time of writing). I then placed the cooler down with the bottom side of the cooler being closest to the PCI-E slot. I hand tightened the screws to the point where the flat (leaf spring) portion was flat, but turning the screw further would result in a slight bend. I'm assuming that this is the correct way to use the over-tighten indicator as my first install had a slight bend on the indicator which resulted in some pretty terrible temperatures.
TLDR; good product but it took some trial and error to figure out how it's supposed to be used. A folded up 8.5x11 piece of paper with instructions or an updated video would go a long way.
Thank you DingKey Designs!
Mobo: MSI B650I with 7800X3D. I used short screws from AXP90-X47 FC.
Over tight indicators worked, but are quite finicky. I had to adjust both top and bottom horizontal bars to make them square, but they are held down only by one screw that doesn’t precent rotation.
I ended up with a “slightly over tightened” state for all four screws, because it wasn’t fixed when the indicator was flat. Temps dropped by 2-3 degC as expected.
Would recommend, works great!
Product overall good.
I've got wrong/faulty screws for the DingKey Backplate and was told to buy some washers myself.
So to sum ot up:
Product itself works, but be aware of the screws.
Great quality!
